Join Pawsey experts as we conduct a four-day workshop to explore, debug, and optimise OpenCL applications.

Note this course is spread over two weeks:

    Part 1 (two days):  21-22 June 2023
    Part 2 (two days):  28-29 June 2023

See:  https://pawsey.org.au/event/opencl-workshop/.
Galaxy Community Conference GCC2023 coming to Australia:  10-Jul
For the first time ever the Galaxy Community Conference is coming to Australia, from 10 - 16 July 2023 in Brisbane.   See https://galaxyproject.org/events/gcc2023/ for more details.

Galaxy Australia (https://usegalaxy.org.au/) is one of the three global pillars of an active and energetic community of software developers, bioinformaticians and life scientists that work hard to deliver Galaxy to all researchers worldwide.

If you are a data scientist, software engineer, or an educator working in data intensive science you should consider attending GCC2023, even if you are not (yet) using Galaxy.

EarlyBird registration closed on 12 May.
AeRO Jobs Board Rebooted
AeRO is rebooting the National eResearch Jobs Board at https://aero.edu.au/jobs/.  This is a free service that we offer to the eResearch community and in the past we have advertised an average of 30-40 jobs each month.

It’s looking a little sparse at the moment, so please reach out to Loretta Davis directly (at loretta@aero.edu.au) if you have any current or upcoming vacancies that you would like to share with the broader eResearch community.
Biosecurity Platform Launched
A new platform, launched on 10 May, will play a transformative role in protecting Australia from the arrival of invasive species that threaten the economy and the environment.

Biosecurity Commons is a ground-breaking platform will change how we analyse and respond to biosecurity threats such as plant pests, weeds or diseases arriving with air and sea cargo, passengers or mailed parcels.

It can provide information about where to look for a disease or pest, where it might spread to, what impacts it might cause, how long it will take to eradicate, and when a region is free from it.
