Dear Alex, here is the Australasian eResearch Newsletter.
Australasian eResearch Newsletter - January 2024
Message from AeRO:

A quiet time of the year, with many folk from the eResearch Community on leave, so a short Newsletter this month.  But there are still plenty of events and activities worth noting.

We wish in particular to remind you about the AeRO Forum to take place on 21-Feb as part of SupercomputingAsisa being held in Sydney, in which we will seek your input into a Framework for reviewing research data management infrastructures (see detail in the body of this Newsletter).

Also, please note that the next Newsletter will be issued a little earlier than usual, on 12-Feb, with a call issued on 5-Feb.

Lastly, we would like to take the opportunity to thank the whole eResearch Community for its support over the past year, and to wish you all a very productive New Year!

Alex Reid, Newsletter Editor.

AeRO Forum @ SC Asia 2024: Road Testing RDRA:  21-Feb
AeRO is working to improve our understanding of the underlying principles of the variety of research data management infrastructure systems that have been designed and built.  We have developed a draft high-level Research Data Reference Architecture (RDRA).  This RDRA is intended to guide the design, construction, and procurement of implementations without mandating any approach, technical solution, or product choice.

In this Forum, we invite attendees to test this draft by measuring real world research data implementations against the RDRA.

The Forum will be held on 21st Feb after lunch.  Full SC Asia registration or day registration is required to attend.  See https://sca24.sc-asia.org/program/.
Tech Talk 25 - Clean Air Research Data and Analysis Technology (CARDAT):  22-Feb
The CARDAT platform has been developed for sharing both 1) data (ie health records and environmental exposures) and 2) analyses (ie code and models).  This seminar will describe the design and implementation of the range of solutions we used to address the issues posed, applying the FAIR criteria to share health and environmental data/analysis, all while safeguarding confidentiality.

It will be given by Dr Ivan Hanigan, Director, WHO Collaborating Centre for Climate Change and Health Impact Assessment.

When: 22 Feb 2024, 2.00pm AEDT
