Tuesday, 8-Sep-26:

We picked up the coach at the East Perth Train Station (at some ungodly hour!!), joining about 20 other passengers, and set off towards Geraldton for our 4-day guided tour. Our driver was Brian, also a guide, and the official guide (with a good botanical knowledge) was Ann Newman.

Having just started our Wildflower coach tour North of Perth, we stopped briefly near Bindoon to admire some kangaroo paws growing on the side of the road. This is the WA national flower, the only plant that has red and green flowers, so our guide, Ann Newman, says.

At the end of our first day of Casey's Wildflower Tour, we had traveled from Perth to Bindoon to Mugumber to Moora to Carnamah to Geraldton.
Here are some of the other wildflowers we saw, mostly just on the side of the road.

Wednesday, 9-Sep-26

This day we traveled North from Geraldton.
Being in the Geraldton area, and as well as many, many varieties of wildflowers, we get to see churches designed by Monsignor Hawes, including Geraldton Cathedral, Northampton church and Nanson church in the beautiful Chapman Valley. Here are those three, together with the church in Mullewa.

Then there's the pink lake at Port Gregory, called Hutt Lagoon, source of salt and special pink colouring industry. Very pink on 9-Sep-26 when we visited.

My FB posts for days .5 to 4 of our 4-day wildflower tour with Casey's got deklayed. Here are the missing bits.
On the second day (9-Sep), we travelled from Geraldton to the Chapman Valley, to Northampton, Port Gregory, to Kalbarri (& the Skywalk), then back to Geraldton, with stops along the way to check out wildflower "hot spots". Here is an eclectic collection of photos...

Thursday, 10-Sep-26

This day we traveled East from Geraldton.
This is the third day of our Casey's wildflower tour, and we travelled Eastwards (ie inland) and a little South, travelling to Walkaway, then Coalseam, then Canna, then Pindar and the nearby Wreath Flower spot, back to Mullewa, then returning to Geraldton, stopping here and there to take in particular wildflowers. Not to mention that we had to cut down a bit on morning tea and lunch times to make up for the hour we lost when a tyre on the bus blew (and was shredded).

Friday, 11-Sep-26

This the fourth day of our Casey's Wildflower Tour saw us heading South (eventually back to Perth), after checking out the Geraldton Lighthouse and the HMAS Sydney memorial, taking in Greenough and Dongara, then Eneabba, Lesueur National Park and Jurien Bay (for lunch). Then Cervantes and the Pinnacles (Nambung National Park). Again we stopped at seemingly inconspicuous places from time to time, including what the guide called her "secret garden" - a surprising array of wildflowers: shows you can't appreciate them until you stop and get out of the vehicle and walk about a bit. And another secret spot to see a rare black kangaroo paw.

And so we returned to Perth, arriving at 6pm on Friday, 11-Sep-26.
