Drove to Bicester, parked car for a week, took train to Marylebone then walked to St Pancras to take Eurostar with Chris Wright, to Gare du Nord, Paris.
[there was a major incident on the Bicester-Marylebone train at Rickmansworth, when someone trespassed on the tracks; this caused a delay which meant we missed our Eurostar booking - but we got a note from Chiltern Railways which enabled us to catch a later Eurostar with no penalty]

Lots of sightseeing in Paris, including the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the shop lights on Boulevard Haussmann, the Orangerie, the Musee D'Orsay, an open-top bus tour, a bateau mouche at night...

Over the next couple of days it hung around and with partial melt produced lots of icicles!:

Sunday, 19-Dec-2010: roads were near impassible, with snow & ice; but by driving slowly and cerfully we drove Chris Wright into Oxford station (had previously planned to take trsin from Kingham, but trains not operating on that line).
